Swimming at the WaterWorld

Flaxmere Water World

We went to the exciting Water World in Flaxmere

On May Monday 9:20 when Heretaunga rao rao homako ambled up to the bus i got VERY excited for my first trip to Flaxmere Water World. We were going there for swimming lessons. The teachers would tell us what to do, “do back glide” they said while they did the actions.

I smell clawrine. I touch the slippery tiles with my feet. I feel GREAT! to be here. I see flowing water waves like Pandora Pond waves when people swim in it.

“I like the water swishing beside me and i like the coolness of the water (the cold cool) but you get use to it.”I said “Yes you will get use to the water”said Mrs Roach. (I splashed into the water) “brrrr” I said “get your boards” said the teacher.

My favourite is backstroke because the strongest part of my body is my arms and i’m not that good at breathing by doing freestyle.

I like swimming swimming is FUN!!! But i need to work on back glide.

Cape Kidnappers

Cape Kidnappers

Many years ago there was the Heretaunga plains where there was a Māori tribe. The elders of the tribe would tell stories to the kids about Cape Kidnappers. So this is what happened…On 15 October 1769 there was a big ship called HMS Endeavour. On that ship lived Captain James Cook set sail on this ship. With this young Tahitian boy called Tupia who agreed to traveled with Cook. For many years the Māori people have been trading fruits/veges for fresh fish. Then one day the Māori people saw Tupia and they went crazy with confusion “why is a island boy living with the pakeha” they wondered “Surely he’s a prisoner against his will” “we must save him” they shouted. “But we must have a plan” one       of the village man said “here’s the plan.” “when we come back to trade we will trick the pakeha and take the boy and as soon as we know we’ll be halfway home.” Soon they were ready to trade they went straight out to the ship and when the pakeha went to get the fish, the Māori people quickly grabbed Tupias arm and pulled him up onto the boat. Tupia screamed
“HELP ME HELP ME!!!” the pakeha ran onto the deck with there gun “FIRE” Cook shouted and one by one the Māori people fell over dead! Tupia got out of the boat and back on the ship. “You made a lucky escape” said Cook with relief.

That is why this place is called Cape kidnappers

Or the puppy is small.” said Grandad

“Maybe the orange is his best friend” said Jack,“Or maybe his favourite food is orange”said Mum
, “Or it’s a big puppy treat for him” said Sam,”Or Maybe the puppy is trying to roll it to the owner so he/she can
throw it” “I’m just wondering where he found it.” I said

Hawkes Bay fire story

                   Hawkes Bay Fire
Huge fire sparks State of emergency

Flames horrify residents
As I stood outside of my burning house I could see the huge, violent flames
burst out of precious home. The flames were raging, hot and scary.
Those flames made me cry and I hope that the people can fix it. The flames flew
into the air, like a hawk taking off. “I hope those flames never come back again.”
“The flames were really frightening.” “Those flames were as big as a hill.
Wow those deadly flames did a lot of damage. “AHH!!!” look at my house
it’s black and it turned into ashes.

The Swing Bridge

WALT - use our senses and the 5 W’s when writing

I can see an old wooden bridge.I hear
the sound of birds and cicadas.
I in-hail the smell of garbage water.
I taste misty air.It was maybe when
someone was poor. So they posted it
so it would go viral to make money.
Maybe  It might be in Australia?
I think it's a man. I wonder when
t's gonna fall into the stinky garbage
water.
